Julia K. Jack is an Associate Professor of Art at Tennessee Wesleyan College where she has been instrumental in developing the art curriculum, the fine arts major, and the visual arts studios.  She earned her B.F.A. at Middle Tennessee State University and her M.F. A. at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she was awarded a graduate and a teaching assistantship.  She has now been teaching foundations art courses for 23 years.  Ms. Jack has traveled extensively in order to broaden her knowledge and to enhance her teaching skills.  She has written and received numerous grants to benefit her institution and her students, including a sizable grant from the Mellon Foundation.  She has enthusiastically embraced the development of service learning at Tennessee Wesleyan and has seen its rewards for both students and community.  In addition, Ms. Jack is a productive visual artist, exhibiting nationally, and creating an art that melds her understanding of contemporary issues with her East Tennessee roots.
